Putting the Environment first:
A policy means nothing without action, below is a list of some practical activities in place...
In the summer 2008 we considered carbon offset programs, we wanted to recognize that our business, albeit small, had an impact and we wanted to make a positive contribution to the planet.
Since 2008 we have been an active supporter of the charity Trees for Life, we pledged to plant a minimum of 2 trees per month.
We have in fact nearly doubled that target with over 500 trees being contributed towards the project that has itself planted over 1 million trees in the Caledonian Forest, Scotland.
Any client that wishes to donate a tree through our grove is welcome to by adding £5:00 to any order.
More information can be found at www.treesforlife.org.uk
While our management systems avoid the need for much paper, paper is still a fact of life.
All papers are saved for security shredding as part of our GDPR policy as well as environment concerns, shredded paper is then re-used as packaging and also composted.
Wherever possible we recycle boxes and packaging rather than order new, once beyond use we take to recycling centers ourselves rather than send to landfill.
Despite the growth of the internet, catalogues are still heavily used in the industry.
Our own use of catalogues has fallen from 3,000 to 1500 printed this year as we develop our web offering and educate customers.
Our Catalogue is produced on PEFC paper, the world’s largest forest certification system.
As much as is possible the stationery we use is either recycled or originates from sustainable sources.
We only print letterhead on demand and have reduced our printed stationery to compliment slips only, printed locally on sustainably sourced stock.
In our kitchen we provide 2 bins for our employees to dispose of waste.Bin 1 – waste that cannot be recycled or composted
Bin 2 – recycling waste – plastic cartons, tins, packaging etc.
Our town center location makes it easy for staff members to commute to work and not necessarily by car.
One team member walks, two use the bus, one the train, one often cycles.
Two Account Directors only visit the office twice per week, one makes use of the train on occasion.
Sussex Promotions is concerned for the planet and the future being left for the next generations.
Plastic waste & climate change are disasters of our own making, as small as our part might be, we will endeavor to help people switch away from plastics to more sustainable products and continue to plant trees in our grove with Trees for Life. We believe restoring forests to be one of the most effective solutions in the fight against climate change and are proud of what we have contributed so far.
